Zone Heaters are an economical way to add supplemental heat to any room or area of your home. Fenton Sew and Vac sells HeatSmart, Sun Heat and Riccar Zone Heaters. Most people spend 80% of their time in 20% of their home. Why pay to heat the whole house?  If you have a family room in the basement, for example, chances are it is colder than the upstairs portion. In order to make the basement more comfortable, without a zone heater, you would have to turn the upstairs thermostat up to the point that it makes the upstairs far too warm and uncomfortable for any family members that might be upstairs.  A Zone Heater is a great solution to this problem. It can raise the room temperature by as much as 10 degrees. That is the difference between being comfortable and being cold. It is also far less expensive to use a Zone Heater than it is to turn up the thermostat and raise the temperature level in the whole house. A 1500 watt heater can heat effectively heat between 800 and 1000 sq. ft.

These heaters are an ideal choice and more efficient method of keeping warm when you will be in a room for a short period of time because they avoid the energy needed to heat the entire room, by instead directly heating the occupants and their immediate surroundings.

Heat Smart® Infrared Heaters are a less expensive way to heat a room or supplement an existing, or inadequate heating systems. Heat Smart® will boost the temperature of a room without heating your whole house and are designed to keep you warm while reducing your overall energy costs.

How do they save you money?  A typical Zone Heater requires 3.4 kw hours to heat one degree. A typical electric furnace requires 5.49 kw hours to do the same. For every degree you lower the thermostat on your furnace you will lower your heating cost by 5% and since you pay for Electricity by the kw hour, your savings is in the difference between 3.4 and 5.49. In St louis, as of  11/28/11, Amren charges $7.53 per kw hour for the first 750kw and $5.02 after that.

Unlike space heaters, forced air Zone Heaters distribute heat more evenly. Space heaters are only effective if you are sitting in front of them and then they will only the part of your body that is facing the heater.

There are many brands of Zone Heaters on the market for you to choose from. Why are some more expensive than others? Well, the short answer is quality of the components. A good quality Zone Heater is less costly to own over the life of the product. Cost of ownership is something to consider when shopping for a Zone Heater. We can explain and show you what the differences are between not only the brands and models we sell but also some that we don’t sell.
